There is something we have forgotten, and it outweighs everything else. We veered off the right path we were on. Those who survive win the race.
Empires can rise and fall. Wars and famines can come and go. Natural disasters, pandemics, dictators… None of those circumstances hold significance, as we appear to have overlooked a crucial law of nature: those who survive win the race.
Our basic needs covered, we stopped struggling; we lost touch with reality, and our minds strayed so far from what is essential that even existence itself ceased to make sense.
People have never been more lost; more devoid of meaning and purpose than in these turbulent times. Why?
I dare you to sit outside for a while and just calmly observe any living being that inhabits this planet. Any bird, dog or fish. Any insect, any plant, or microbe. What do you see? Connected with the great mystery of nature, they still remember what we forgot. Relentlessly, they toil, day after day, to abide by that sacred, immutable rule: whomever survives wins.
Take my advice and base your life on this law. Everything else, secondary, because your life matters, your people matter and you are on trial. We all are, so the question that remains is this: Will you win the race? And will you teach your children and grandchildren how to win it too? Because, my dear friend, this run renews itself with each new generation, and will continue to do so long after we are gone.
